More and more brands are launching foundations with 40+ tones (leading some stores vowing not to stock foundations without a representative shade range), advertisements are projecting a more inclusive image, and new haircare launches are finally taking all hair textures into mind. However, despite the significant progress we’ve made, certain aspects of beauty have been overlooked. It’s a Cheap Eyeshadow Palette in my opinion.
Eyeshadow is one of my favorite things. Dipping a brush into a powdered pan and sweeping it across my eye isn’t something I do every day; it’s something I save for special occasions or when I want to put a little more effort into my make-up look.
This means that every time a new eyeshadow collection is released, it has a certain attraction to it that makes it feel extra special. And I’m not the only one. The entire Stylist beauty team usually oohs and ahhs over a new eyeshadow pallet.
Unfortunately, a fast swatch often leaves me feeling… flat. Many eyeshadow palettes aren’t designed with all skin tones in mind, and as a result, half of the colors included in the palettes don’t show up well against darker complexion tones, if at all. You’ll find one that’s too chalky, one that’s too ashy, and one that’s too light before you find the one that’s just perfect, as Goldilocks would say.
