Trends in makeup and cheap eyeshadow palette hues come and go. Many of these trends have come and gone in our lifetimes, and some have even returned.
I went through times when I couldn’t leave the home without putting on a complete face of makeup, which included eyeshadow. Other times, I went to work with very little makeup on most days.
Yes, I went through the 80s era of really brilliant, shimmering colours. There are no regrets! Those images, carefully stashed away in photo albums, remind me of my youth and daring experimentation.
I still enjoy experimenting with makeup now that I’m over 50 and have a good sense of my style and confidence. However, I’ve discovered that there are a few things I need to keep in mind when it comes to my cosmetic choices.
Let’s face it, our 50+ eyes have seen a lot, yet they are no longer as sharp as they once were. Your lids are likely to have developed wrinkles and blotches, and your eyeshadow isn’t sitting as effectively as it once did. Join the fraternity.
In recent years, I’ve been on a journey to find the perfect eyeshadow that won’t crease and make my eyes appear smaller.

Cream and powder eyeshadows are the two types of eyeshadows available. When it comes to aged skin, this is a hotly discussed topic. Some people swear by creamy eyeshadows that glide on smoothly, while others favour powder eyeshadows.
It all relies on the condition of your eyelids, skin, and way of life. Cream eyeshadows should be avoided by women who have a lot of wrinkles or hooded eyes. This can result in unsightly creases.

Shimmer vs. Matte
Almost all makeup artists believe that matte eyeshadow with less sparkle is best for mature women’s skin. Eyeshadows that are shimmery or frosty tend to exaggerate wrinkles and make a woman appear older.

Your colour choices will be determined by your skin tone, hair colour, and personal preference. As we get older, we tend to gravitate towards warmer browns, greys, and natural tones rather than bright blues and purples, as these can make us look overdone and make us appear older than our real years.

It’s crease- and fade-resistant, and it’s quite simple to use. Instead of using sponge applicators, I apply the hues with an eyeshadow brush. They have a modest sheen to them that fits well into the eyelids without being too shiny.
