FAQ on eyeshadow

It’s always helpful to have another eyeshadow technique or best practice in your makeup arsenal, whether you’re a beginner or a master. Our makeup artist expert is here to answer some often asked questions. Here’s a quick rundown of her credentials:

Alana Wright is a makeup artist with experience in print, television, and red carpet events who moved to Los Angeles from New York City. Her clients have included popular authors like Elaine Welteroth, the former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, and Frank Ocean.

What’s one eyeshadow trick that everyone should know?

“My go-to makeup tip is to always use an emollient shadow foundation (concealer or shadow primer) before applying eyeshadow,” Wright explained.

Shadow Insurance by Too Faced is unsurpassed as a personal recommendation.

As a beginner, how can I try out different colors of eyeshadow?

“Ease into it” or “dive right in,” Wright advises.“For me, the easiest technique would be to apply the coloured eyeshadow like eyeliner with a little angled liner brush,” she explains. “A crisp line is achieved by joining little dashes together in a delicate dabbing motion while applying the shadow along the top lash line.”

She also suggests mixing the shadow onto the lid with a flat shadow placement brush if additional color is desired.

When an eyeshadow palette ‘expires,’ how long should I keep it?

“The typical shelf life of cosmetics is 36 months,” Wright added, “but I find powdered goods survive far longer.” “Spray the surface of your eyeshadow palette with 70% isopropyl alcohol every now and then to make sure it’s cleaned. The product will remain unchanged when the isopropyl alcohol evaporates.”

1.Best neutral eyeshadow palettes

Sparkly shadows with a bit of shine can sometimes make all the difference. One of my faves is Natasha Denona’s Bronze cheap eyeshadow palette, which is known for its deep pigmentation and ability to last for more than 12 hours.

The “genuine copper,” “bliss,” and “silk” hues, in particular, are too good to pass up.

2. Natasha Denona Retro Eyeshadow Palette

Natasha Denona’s Bronze Eyeshadow Palette is a tried-and-true favorite, so it’s no surprise that the brand’s new Retro Eyeshadow Palette made the list. When I’m going for a romantic date night look, I reach for this palette because of the lovely peony-toned hues.

Furthermore, this 15-toned palette is one of the easiest to blend I’ve seen, which is fantastic because rose-toned hues (when excessively pigmented and difficult to blend) may make you look like you have an eye infection (no thanks)! So, this palette is incredible, especially the colors “andy,” “patty,” and “nude mauve.”

3. KVD Beauty Lolita Por Vida Eyeshadow Palette

Let’s go right to the point: this palette is just amazing. It has a little bit of everything (purples, orange tones, and burned cranberries) while being neutral.

The Lolita Por Vida Eyeshadow Palette from KVD Beauty is special in that the colors “reina” and “luna” are larger than normal and, coincidentally, both are two of the most wearable for everyday wear. Furthermore, each color is a perfect match for the one before it.

4. Glossier “Bluff” Monochromes

It’s 2022, and you haven’t yet experienced the Glossier craze.

I was eager to get my hands on one of the Monochromes eyeshadow trios from one of the most on-trend beauty brands, with “Bluff” being my favorite three-pack. With a wonderful liquid liner, mascara-coated lashes, and a creamy lip color, the hues are deliciously pigmented and appear iconic.

Not to add, this easy-to-travel-with tiny is just shy of $ if you’re searching for an affordable, everyday wear choice.

5. Urban Decay Naked3 Palette

Yes, the classic Naked palettes from Urban Decay are still in demand. The brand’s Naked3 Palette, distinctive for its warm-toned tones while still offering a significant quantity of neutral browns, is one version that’s been overlooked. It’s definitely one to check out.

Other Urban Decay Naked palettes I’ve used include vividly coloured colors that blend smoothly. When I apply sparkly colors to my crease for a night out, I’ve always had remarks that my eyes have a slight pop.

6. Sephora Collection Eye Love Bloom Eyeshadow Palette

I bought Sephora Collection’s Eye Love Bloom Eyeshadow Palette on the spur of the moment at checkout, and it’s perfect for everyday use. Because I go through a matte white shade the most and the other colors work nicely with my light brown eyes, I prefer when palettes come with a large lid shade.

Furthermore, for a palette that costs less than $15, the colors are remarkably blendable. Tarte’s In Bloom Clay cheap eyeshadow palette is also a smaller duplicate.
