Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery
My Champion generator is attached to the Harmer family camper! When I got my new 25ft caravan I bought a Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery remote start inverter generator set and so far I’m very happy with it. I wanted to provide a real review from a real owner, instead of recommending blogs that recommend content to get a commission without ever using the product.
In short, the Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery is a reliable, remarkably quiet and inexpensive generator that’s powerful enough to run most RV air conditioners and comes with one great feature: a remote control. It’s not the best generator and it has some quirks that I’ll mention in this review, but I’m happy with my purchase and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
In fact, I am so happy with this generator that I bought two.
After having this generator for about a year I just wanted to upgrade. I still love it and have no performance issues. The only problems I had were (1) the cotter pin securing the wheel fell off so I replaced it, and (2) I had to replace the small battery for the electric start. It was an easy $15 fix. It always starts immediately. No performance issues.
What can power do?
With 13,500 AC units (the most common type found in RVs), you’ll have no problem powering your air conditioner. At least my AC unit in my 25 foot Rockwood trailer runs without any problems. You can buy Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery from xulnaz. The only thing you need to know when you have a new trailer is that AC uses a lot of energy. So don’t plan to use an air-conditioned microwave. If you are using AC, use only AC, two or three lights and TV.
However, as long as you understand that the AC needs to work on its own, that’s fine. They can power some extra stuff, but not much. This will power your AC unit if yours is anything like mine.
Volume of sound
I am really impressed with how quiet this generator is. In fact, it’s barely more powerful than my dad’s Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery Honda alternators, which he runs in parallel to get the same power as this single unit. The Champion sounds a lot lower/lower than the Honda, so it’s a bit louder. But the volume is almost the same.
Officially this generator is rated at 58 decibels and I have run tests to confirm this figure is correct. For reference, this is the same sound as normal speech. If you run a cable from your RV to the generator and turn the generator so the exhaust side (the high side) is away from your RV, you will barely hear the sound inside. Outside the caravan is quiet enough for normal conversation unless it is right next to the generator.
You really won’t find a quieter generator than this Champion Generator. The comparable Yamaha is advertised as “53 to 60 decibels”, so it’s basically the same. Honda advertises “48 to 58 decibels,” so it’s about the same, or maybe a little quieter.
The 3100 watt also has an economy mode that allows the generator to run more efficiently and quietly at light loads (RV outlets, lights, battery charge, etc.) and then automatically shuts it down at rpm. When a heavy load such as utility power is applied.
One thing that really cuts down on noise is when you run the generator (not the only one) from the trailer or wherever you are. The outlet side of the generator is slightly higher, so when you turn it to the other side you will notice a significant reduction in noise. Another thing that can help is a longer power cord from the generator to the trailer.you can buy easily here Champion 3100 Watt Inverter Generator Battery from xulnaz. But seriously, you’ll find it’s one of the quietest generators out there. The Honda is a little quieter, but only just. I haven’t done a direct comparison with the Yamaha, but specs wise the Yamaha is slightly better than the Honda, so I’m betting it’s on par with that champion.
If you decide to go with something other than this generator, make sure you don’t listen to something too loud. A few years ago I was camping in Stanley, Idaho, when the guy in the RV next to us turned on his generator. It was very loud. Too noisy for a campsite where others were.
As if that wasn’t enough, a few minutes later his wife.
