Dr. Michael Colgan, a renowned author, and lecturer, is the founder and president of The Colgan Institute. Founded in 1972 in Auckland, New Zealand, the Colgan Institute was moved to San Diego, California in 1982. Colgan was a senior member of the Science Faculty of the University of Auckland from 1971 to 1982 where he taught human sciences and conducted research on human aging and physical performance at the university’s medical school. After moving to the United States in 1980, Colgan was a visiting scholar at Rockefeller University in New York. Author of the best-selling books Optimum Sports Nutrition, The New Nutrition, and Prevent Cancer Now, Colgan has also contributed articles to his institute’s nutritional newsletter Colgan Chronicles.
