Every MyLaps Car Wire RC vehicle has an RC transponder installed, that sends out a unique signal to the detection loop in the track. RC Transponders is small and lightweight and has been used in the world of RC racing for many years. That is half of the T&S condition, the rest comes as transponders. A transponder is a little box found someplace in every vehicle that transmits a sign a few feet in a range around it. This sign conveys a remarkable identifier that the scoring PC can perceive. As a vehicle disregards the circle, the transponder’s sign is brought inside the scope of the circle, and the circle gets the sign. That “pickup”, as it’s known, advises the scoring PC that the vehicle (or rather, the transponder inside the vehicle) has finished a lap.

The RC4 (3-wire) transponder is the latest in the line of transponders from MyLaps. The RC4 transponder supports car ID numbers so you can have the same transponder number in all your cars, with a different ID for each. The RC4 transponder also gives additional telemetry data such as voltage to the transponder and transponder temperature each time the loop is crossed. This transponder will only work on RC4 decoder boxes with version 4 firmware or higher.
